Before Jason Collins made headlines coming out as the first openly gay NBA player in 2013, and before the media frenzy that surrounded Michael Sam and the 2014 NFL draft, there was Glenn Burke: a talented Los Angeles Dodger whose career was cut short by his refusal to hide his identity as a proud gay man back in the 1970s. Nearly two decades after his death, Burke was finally honoured by Major League Baseball. This is his story, as told to Erik Sherman.
