When PI Malcolm "Mac" Connally's former lover turns up dead in a dumpster in a town several hundred miles from where she's supposed to be no one seems all that concerned. So he takes it upon himself, despite the protests of her family and the local authorities, to find out what happened. His quest leads him to a new lover and a view into a Midwest town's dark underside.
