There's not a person on earth who doesn't love 14-year-old Sawyer Whitting: lively, laughing, surrounded by friends. Then there's his bookish twin Shell, who watches him from afar. When they begin ninth grade, she expects him to conquer Blue Brook High School... until the accident. Losing Sawyer breaks Shell in two. Over months of mourning, everything changes, from the relationship with her old friends to how people at Blue Brook come together, sharing unfathomable loss. At first, without her brother to guide her, it's easy to shut herself away - that's what everyone else is doing. Eventually, Shell meets people and makes choices that will bring her face-to-face with her brother's death. No matter how much it hurts, she'll have to be ready. ONLY THE GOOD is a smart, tender story about facing grief and the power one person can have over many. Debut novel. National Novel Writing Month 2011 winner. Recommended for ages 12-13 and up.
