Most pieces in Noughties were first composed through Durbin’s process of intensive surfacing, where she would watch a few frames of a show, pause, write down everything she saw, and then transform the material into poems and stories. A completely new addition, Durbin’s playful ink drawings bring in Bridget Marquardt’s pink Hello Kitty bedroom, tabloids as poems, and Paris and Nicole "that’s hot" rewatch memes, for a feverish, singular artwork of a dirty decade that never really ended.

Notă biografică
Kate Durbin is a writer and artist from Los Angeles who invents forms from reality TV, the internet, and other cultural debris. She is the author of five books. Noughties (Wave 2027), is a radical reissue of her cult 2014 book E! Entertainment, which includes all new drawings, rewrites and reimaginings of the original poems and stories. Hoarders (Wave) was named a best book of the year by NPR, Lit Hub, and Electric Literature, and was translated into Russian. Her poetry app, Abra, won the international Turn-on-Literature Prize, and she was the Arts Queensland Poet-in-Residence in Brisbane, Australia. Her writing has appeared in Poetry, The American Poetry Review, The Baffler, Flaunt, Forever Magazine, and more. Her artwork has been shown or is forthcoming at MOCA Budapest, SF MoMA’s Open Space, VBKOE in Vienna, Picture Berlin, and MOCA Los Angeles.
