Mark Durren's an attorney with a shattered career. Malaya Careta's an ex-cop who was one of the first female POWs in Afghanistan. Quietly rebuilding their lives in a small mountain town in Northern California, they meet when Mark needs help to find out what a sociopath is hiding deep in his forest retreat.
