Nonlinear Wave Phenomena in Plasma: Some Current Problems

Autor Basudev Ghosh
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 18 mai 2012
The monograph is designed to illustrate some important wave phenomena in plasma with some current problems .Chapter 1 deals with Landau damping of ion-acoustic waves in a multicomponent plasma. In Chapter 2 we discuss the possibilities of the radiation of electromagnetic waves by the conversion of ion-acoustic waves in the ionosphere and solar corona. In Chapter 3 we consider the propagation of ion-acoustic solitary waves in a drifting plasma with nonthermal electrons. Chapter 4 deals with the study of ion-acoustic double-layers in a multicomponent drifting plasma. In Chapter 5 modulational instability of high frequency surface waves on a warm plasma half-space has been investigated. In Chapter 6 a theoretical estimation has been carried out for the nonlinear Faraday rotation of obliquely propagating ion-cyclotron whistlers in the ionosphere. Resonant interaction of MHD wave with its second harmonic in a planar plasma-filled waveguide has been considered in Chapter 7. Quantum effects in plasma on the linear and nonlinear behaviour of electron plasma waves have been considered in Chapter 8. In the last chapter the theory of generation of magnetic moment field has been considered
