A world of dark secrets. Deadly enemies rising. And in the midst of it all, a forbidden love.
Kate is struggling to fit back into everyday life after narrowly surviving imprisonment by one of her father's worst enemies. With so much changed-from her features, to her personality, to the very blood in her body-the vampire princess finds herself suffocating in who she's become. The female who'd once been a refreshingly bright ray of sunshine now lives her days shrouded in darkness, overcome by her despondence and defeat. She can't bring herself to focus on the future...until he pushes her to do so.
Damian knows he must concentrate on the war at hand: quell the wraith uprising, eradicate their leader, and stop the suffering of the vampire population. But things are careening out of control-both personally and professionally. While hostilities grow between The Guards of Nightfall and their adversaries, Damian's best friend, Kate, continues to spiral into a sickeningly black depression, and he can focus on little else; the turmoil upends everything he thought he knew and wanted. Yet, as arrogance defines his entire life, Damian continues to resist the notion and does everything in his power to balance both worlds to suit his own needs.
But what happens when those worlds refuse to balance, and instead collide?
