Dr. Collins is an American success story. He is one of very few doctor's (if there are any others) that came out of the East Ocean View area of Norfolk, Virginia. He was born to a single mom that struggled most of his life, he made it to become a successful educator, lecturer, and author. As a youth, he realized that he wanted to make it out of his neighborhood, but thought only athletes and entertainers could make it from the hood.
