Following the green revolution and transgenic crop development, another revolutionary progress has been experienced in plant breeding in the last decade with the application of marker-assisted selection (MAS), next-generation sequencing (NGS), and gene editing techniques together with omic technologies, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and phenomics.
