The present work is devoted to the Latin language, its history, and its educational value. It will prove interesting and instructive to the more ambitious pupil. The object of this book is to present the essential facts of Latin grammar in a direct and simple manner, and within the smallest compass consistent with scholarly standards. It is intended for the secondary school, the college student, and aims to furnish such grammatical information as is ordinarily required in undergraduate courses. Latin is an ancient Italic language. Modern Romance languages are continuations of dialectal forms (vulgar Latin) of the language. Additionally many students, scholars, and some members of the Christian clergy speak it fluently, and it is still taught in primary, secondary and post-secondary educational institutions around the world.
