This book is based on a true story. In August 2008, two men from Nantucket went fishing for the day on the twenty-six-foot boat the Queen Bee. As they made their way back to shore, a wave tossed both men into the water. They were rescued by the Coast Guard, but the boat was believed to be lost at sea. In January 2012, the boat was discovered floating off the coast of Spain.

Alex Smith lives on Cape Cod with his wife, children, and family pets. Alex grew up on Cape Cod, so his love for the ocean landscape started at a young age. For work, he visits Nantucket, as well as Martha's Vineyard, several times throughout the year. He believes that you garner an intrinsic perspective of the towns that comprise the coast, when viewed from the water.
