One day, I woke up and there were 70 rabbits and bunnies in my back yard. A month earlier, rain had loosened the soil, and one male rabbit dug under the fence separating the males from the females and got them all pregnant. But this revelation was only one of many that I received in my 6 years raising bunnies, at a dear emotional cost that ended in profound grief, loneliness and depression for three months. I became a more compassionate person as a result of the journey, but still, many painful memories resurface from time to time and I'm haunted by what could have been.
