Companies that carry out multiple projects in parallel often pursue a resource strategy that allows multi-tasking and multi-projecting. In such an environment resources have to switch between projects repeatedly. A large amount of time is spent on transferring or adjusting resources to new tasks on different projects. These transfer times - as well as the related cost - must be considered already in the planning phase of the (multi-)project to ensure efficient utilisation of scarce company resources.
