Milton D. Rafferty is professor and head of the Department of Geography and Geology at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. Missouri has been his particular area of study for the past fifteen years; this book incorporates much of his original research. His publications include The Ozarks: Land and Life and Historical Atlas of Missouri.
