Materials Development and Teacher Education

Editat de Luis Carabantes, Amos Paran
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 13 apr 2027
Brings together two areas of scholarship that have largely developed independently: materials development and teacher education
This book examines how pre-service and in-service teachers engage with teaching materials and the different processes implicated in materials development, such as their evaluation, adaptation, design and use. The chapters, written by well-known experts in the field, document the role of materials in the overall process of learning to teach English, including: how student-teachers engage in the process of materials development; how teachers learn to develop teaching materials; and how the instruction in materials development in both pre-service education and in-service development varies across different international contexts. Together they document the uneven provision of materials development instruction in teacher education, and the potential negative effects on pedagogy and classroom practice if this crucial aspect of teaching is left out of teacher training.
