Maritime Archaeology, Third Edition: A Technical Handbook
Autor Jeremy N. Greenen Limba Engleză Paperback – 30 oct 2027
This volume describes the major aspects in the field of maritime archaeology, from research, to searching for site, recording and excavation techniques, the uses or remote sensing equipment, 3-dimensional recording, cataloguing, public engagement, legislation and publication. It approaches underwater archaeology as a distinct discipline, exploring the dynamics between archaeologists, treasure hunters, scholars, and governments, while examining how the market for archaeological artifacts presents both challenges and opportunities for these groups. Updated throughout, covering shipwrecks, submerged landscapes, and coastal sites and employing underwater survey methods and excavation to safeguard maritime heritage, this book is an essential introduction and reference for maritime archaeology.
This thoroughly illustrated and detailed exploration of maritime archaeology serves as a vital resource for students, professionals and anyone fascinated by the scientific exploration of human engagement with oceans, lakes, and rivers through archaeological practice.
