Memory Mapping: Visuality, Performance, and the Politics of Place in Latin America studies the relationship between visuality and performance within the context of the politics of memory, place, human rights and violence in the Americas 1990s-present. Building on important theoretical turns within memory studies, the book considers a diverse range of predominantly unstudied but critical visual works, including photography projects in Guatemala and Argentina, documentaries in Chile and El Salvador, public spaces and memory sites in Argentina, and documentaries, forensic analysis, migrant trails, GIS mapping projects, and new media in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
