Notă biografică

Doris Schattschneider ist emeritierte Professorin für Mathematik am Moravian College in Bethlehem (Pennsylvania), wo sie 34 Jahre lang lehrte. Ihr Interesse sowohl für Geometrie als auch für Kunst führte dazu, dass sie sich näher mit dem Werk M. C. Eschers auseinandersetzte. Als Lehrerin, Dozentin, Redakteurin und Autorin zeichnet sie für eine Vielzahl von Publikationen zu Eschers Schaffen aus. Ihre Publikation M. C. Escher: Visions of Symmetry enthält einen vollständigen Überblick über Eschers Symmetriearbeiten und Farbfotografien aller 150 Symmetriezeichnungen.
