After blowing the whistle on his boss' illegal business dealings, Daniel Grey leaves his hometown to avoid a possible dangerous confrontation. A serious accident in northern Ontario leaves Daniel recovering and unable to communicate with his father, William. Local residents, new acquaintances, and a mysterious Native American, blur Daniel's beliefs about what has happened and what will happen. Enlisting the help of his estranged son and daughter-in-law, an RCMP officer, and a private investigator, William tries to determine the facts behind Daniel's flight and subsequent accident, and then come to terms with the startling results of their findings.
