No matter how many times he dies, Lob Barleycorn rises up again, fighting for the underdog. Wherever there is injustice and persecution, and the need for protest and rebellion, Lob is there through the ages, from the Peasants' Revolt to the present day.
'Lob Barleycorn' is a character created by British writer/artist team, Kevan Manwaring and Luke Oram. Drawing upon the folklore of Weird Britannia and English radical history, it is
premiered in this issue, alongside additional material and an introduction to his origins.
'Re-enchantment as Resistance. Lovely blending of the mythos with the modern stuff with a hopeful message. And Barleycorn dies but is always re-born.' John Reppion (Wild Girl, Albion, 2000 AD)
