The impetus for writing this book started with the death of my mother and the need to retain all the stories she had told me over the years. It follows the branches of two families, including a sausage manufacturer in the industrial north of England and a haberdasher in the heart of London in the south. It also contains personal experiences of post-war Britain and beyond, and the eventual union of the families in mid-20th century Canada.
