Sunita Varjani is a Professor at UPES in Dehradun, India, and an Adjunct Professor at Korea University. She also serves as the Director of the Institute of Chartered Waste Managers in India. She has worked as visiting fellow at the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Scientific Officer at Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Her research focuses on Industrial and Environmental (Bio)technology, particularly in waste management, wastewater treatment, bioremediation, and, with an emphasis on developing circular waste-based biorefineries for sustainable chemical and fuel production. She is an International Expert of the European Research Council for Starting, Consolidator, Advanced and Synergy Grant calls.
Carol SK Lin is a professor in the City University of Hong Kong. She received her PhD in Biochemical Engineering at the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science at the University of Manchester, England. Her research focuses on technological advancement and development of circular waste-based biorefinery for sustainable production of chemicals, materials and fuels, that contributes to reduction of environmental burden of waste disposal and enhancement of resource efficiency. She is an International Expert of the Bio4 Project panel on Applied Biological Sciences for The Research Foundation Flanders in Belgium.
Ashok Pandey is currently Executive Director, Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability-India, Lucknow. He is also HTBS National Innovation Chair (Biotechnology), Distinguished Professor in UPES, Dehradun and Distinguished Adjunct Professor, SIMST, Chennai. His major research and technological development interests are industrial & environmental biotechnology and energy biosciences, focusing on biomass to biofuels & chemicals, waste to wealth & energy, etc.
Xuan-Thanh Bui is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam. He obtained PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He serves as the Chairman of the Department of Water Science & Technology and head of VNU-HCM Key Laboratory of Advanced Waste Treatment Technology. His research interests are in the areas of environment technology, with focus on wastewater treatment.
