Life Is King

Sangharakshita (1925-2018) was one of the most influential and prolific Buddhist teachers of his generation. Born Dennis Lingwood in South London, he spent some twenty years in India -- much of it in Kalimpong in the eastern Himalayas -- working to revive Buddhism in the land of its birth and becoming closely involved with Dr B. R. Ambedkar and the great Buddhist mass conversion of 1956. Returning to England, he founded the Triratna Buddhist Community (originally the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order) in 1967, drawing on the whole Buddhist tradition to communicate the Dharma to the modern world. He was the author of more than sixty books, including his magnum opus, A Survey of Buddhism.
