Blackness in horror throughout history has shown Black people as monstrous and evil. The stories in this collection will subvert this trope, instead placing Blackness at the center of horror while changing our understanding of what is and what can be horror fiction. Within the essays, Chesya Burke will examine how the definition of "horror" changes depending on the creators, and their histories. For Black women, horror is much more than a genre.
