What advice would you give the younger you...and would you listen?
As far as time machines go, a magic telephone is pretty useless. TV writer Georgie McCool can't actually visit the past; all she can do is call it, and hope it picks up. Is she going crazy or is this a chance to make things right with her husband, Neal?
Maybe she can fix the things in their past that seem unfixable in the present. Maybe this stupid phone is giving her a chance to start over...if that's what she wants...
A heart-wrenching - and hilarious - take on fate, time, television and true love, Landline asks if two people are ever really on the same path, or whether love just means finding someone who will keep meeting you halfway.
Recenzii
Best for a romantic break ... Rom-com fans will lap it up.
I was completely knocked sideway by how good Landline is.
This clever romantic comedy is perfect company for a stretch on the beach.
This is a great journey book, as Georgie fumbles about finding herself and what she and Neal need to stay together. I recommend this to anybody for a fun summer read (even though it is set at Christmas!), and I really enjoyed the ups and downs of Georgie's Christmas turmoil.
Landline's premise is fairly simple: given the chance to change a small aspect of the past, would you? But there's so much more. Rowell's way with dialogue is amazing (and useful, given that most of the book consists of telephone conversations). Neal's mother, only ever a presence on the other end of the line, is as well realised as any of the characters we get to 'see'. Landline is great on the complexities of adult relationships too, showing how a search for balance can be what love is made of and how a thousand tiny compromises mean more than the grandest romantic gesture
If you could talk to someone in the past in order to influence the future, would you? That's the idea behind Rainbow Rowell's clever new book.

Notă biografică
Rainbow Rowell writes books. She writes books about people who talk a lot. And people who feel like they're screwing up. And people who fall in love. When she's not writing, Rainbow is reading comic books, planning Disney World trips and arguing about things that don't really matter in the big scheme of things. She lives in Nebraska with her husband and two sons. Find out more about Rainbow, and about her other books like ATTACHMENTS and ELEANOR & PARK at www.rainbowrowell.com.
