Judith Ellen Neel worked as an art teacher for thirty-four years, teaching students from kindergarten through high school.

Divorced, Neel was the mother of two married daughters. One is now deceased, a victim of cancer at age forty-three. She is the grandmother of three. Now that she's retired from teaching, she works several days a week creating hand-built ceramics and enjoys duplicate bridge.
