Kathryn's Beach

With courage, perseverance, hope, redemption, and forgiveness, emotionally bankrupt Kathryn abruptly ends her self-imposed exile and returns to Los Angeles five years after her last child abuse investigation. Her friends and a cryptic letter from a powerful man push her to reconcile with her haunting past.

She makes a career change working with homeless families and a spirited group of Franciscan nuns is a fresh new start. At the shelter, Spirit of Hope, relationships develop, mischief and miracles follow, and unexpected moments of grace begin to reshape Kathryn's life.

Kathryn and her elderly neighbor, Mr. Goldstein, a Holocaust survivor, walk along the beach together. He is physically frail, while Kathryn is emotionally frail. Together, they find strength where it is needed. Just as she begins to find her footing again, an unexpected tragedy reminds her how fragile life can be. She finds strength in unexpected places. Kathryn realizes that it isn't how long one lives; it is how wide that really matters and life can take us in directions we never expected.

Kathryn's Beach is the first book in a series of witty, sensitive, and refreshingly unpredictable contemporary women's fiction. The 25th Anniversary Edition welcomes longtime readers back and gives new readers the perfect place to start.
