Just Murdered
Autor Katherine Kovacicen Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 ian 2023
It's the 60s and Peregrine Fisher is a bit adrift. She's just been fired from her most recent job as a hairdresser when she receives a mysterious letter on fine stationery from The Adventuresses' Club of the Antipodes, saying only: "Please attend urgent meeting regarding inheritance." Peregrine, it turns out, is Phryne Fisher's long lost niece. Aunt Phryne, sadly, had gone missing in the deep jungles of Papa New Guinea six months prior, but her will clearly stipulated that Peregrine should inherit not just Phryne's fortunes, but also her seat in the Adventuresses' Club.
With no job or meaningful relationship holding her back, Peregrine sets off for Melbourne. After making a less than stellar first impression, she is eager to prove herself worthy of a seat at the Adventuresses' table. When fellow club member Florence Astor is accused of murder, Peregrine jumps at the chance to help on the case. Detective Inspector James Steed, initially dismissive, quickly finds Peregrine's headstrong nature and flair for investigating leave him little choice. A second shocking death occurs and Detective Steed's boss, Inspector Sparrow, demands the case be brought to a close with suspicious speed. With Sparrow issuing threats, time is running out for Peregrine. It seems she's set herself an impossible task, but then, as Detective Steed says, "never underestimate a woman named Fisher."

It's 1960 and Peregrine Fisher, Phyrne's long-lost niece, is about to get the news of her life.
Phryne's gone missing in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. Only her pearl handled gun and a note arrive back home. She's left instruction that say, that should not turn up in six months' time, a letter must be sent to next of kin.
Peregrine, summons in hand, arrives in Melbourne to Greenwood mansion where she will inherit her aunt's wealth. Phryne's seat in the Adventuresses' Club, on the other hand, must be earned. When two dead bodies turn up at the Astor bridal show, Peregrine gets her chance.
In pure Fisher fashion, she'll defy social expectation with outlandish style, discover a penchant for investigating, all while running circles around the police.
