This is an autobiography by a dog. Midnight is an usual dog who tells the reader all about his special and enjoyable life as an unusual and specially talented member of the Conservation/Special Agent, Dave Swendsen family. Midnight in his dog language describes how he acted as Boss Dave's deputy and also tells about his many crazy escapades as he took care of the Swendsen family. Midnight lived to be almost fifteen years old. In the last chapters he dramatically describes his last hunt and his last days as a special member of the Swendsen family
