A novel of travel fiction composed of interlinked stories describing Moubarak's Egypt from both Egyptian and travelers' points of view. Straightforward writing with flashes of fantasy make for a number of memorable portraits and situations, both evocative and familiar, reminiscent of Paul Theroux or Paul Bowles.
