How far would you go to protect what you love?
Across the world, the name Siegvald von Creslav is spoken with fear and trepidation, from quaint villages to the high towers of kings and wizards. As the Dark Lord, the Blood Dragon, the Vampire King and first of their cursed kindred, his rule is absolute, his kingdom darkened under eternal night and enriched with magic.
But how did he come to be? What paved the way for the fall of one of history's mightiest dynasties and the rise of the realm of night? Born in a regime of zealous piety and oppressive secrets, a young nobleman is forced to navigate the deadly schemes of his nation's court and the ever-watchful gaze of a cruel king. But when ancient evils loom once again on the horizon, the unassuming Siegvald is forced to face dangers beyond his comprehension, and to make choices that will shake the foundations of the world for millennia to come.
His trials are numerous, but throughout his long life, one question remains chief among them; how long can one battle darkness before allowing it into his heart?
