Established by IRTPA, the Director of National Intelligence serves as head of the IC, acts as the principal advisor to the President and National Security Council on intelligence matters, and oversees and directs the implementation of the National Intelligence Program. The IC comprises 17 different organizations across the federal government. The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence oversees all DOD intelligence policies and activities.
