Today's buildings consume more energy than any other sector of the U.S. economy, including transportation and industry. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that energy consumption in buildings will exceed 50 quads in the next two decades. Investment in energy efficiency research and development (R&D) within the buildings sector could significantly reduce energy consumption. This book discusses the building technologies program, as well as technologies and products supported by them.
