When Gina Macleod travels to Provence, France, to stay with her longtime friend Janet after her divorce, she is hoping only for rest, sunshine, and a quiet chance to begin again. A weekend excursion takes them to a neighboring estate where Daniela and her volatile husband Martin are hosting an eclectic gathering: an acclaimed French poet with secrets of his own, a magnetic young Italian with a shadowed connection to Daniela, and Martin's awkward half-sister, who stands to inherit the family fortune. But the gathering turns deadly when Martin is found dead in the swimming pool. As suspicion tightens around the houseguests, Gina finds herself navigating shifting alibis, buried histories, and an unexpected attraction to the detective leading the case. In the heat of a Provenç al summer, what begins as an escape becomes a dangerous search for truth-- where desire and deception are never far apart, and everyone has something to hide.
