Inclusive Media Education: Critical Media Literacies for Diverse Societies: Routledge Research in Media Literacy and Education
Autor Annamária Neag, Çiğdem Bozdağ, Koen Leursen Limba Engleză Hardback – 15 ian 2027
Focusing on questions of diversity and inclusivity, this book advances an inclusive theory and practice of critical media literacy by bringing various fields of scholarship, such as Black feminist theory, postcolonial and decolonial studies, critical migration studies, critical race studies, critical disability studies and ecocriticism in conversation with media education. Taking five thematic entry-points to advance critical media literacies for diverse societies, the book first presents a comprehensive theoretical framework that advocates for an inclusive approach to media literacy education, before exploring methodological approaches to researching media literacy in relation to the challenges of diversity and inclusion. The chapters then provide perspectives from practitioners in the field of media literacy and examine policy and legal frameworks that undergird media education initiatives, moving on to a historical overview of media literacy education frameworks and practices for a diverse audience. Each thematic chapter is accompanied by two research dialogues, consisting of interviews with leading international scholars and specialists, which offer interdisciplinary encounters, stimulate reflection and provide behind the scenes information, as well as future orientations.
This interdisciplinary and international volume will interest researchers, students and scholars of media literacy, media education, diversity and inclusion, gender studies, critical race studies, postcolonial studies, and education studies.
