Reeling from his ex-girlfriend Cally's disappearance, Liam, a giant of a man and teetotaller, wins a commission to restore the neglected grounds of a mansion, Wildham Hall, for its owner Gregory Sinclair. It is there that Liam meets Gregory's daughter Melody, who is mute.
