For all to be perfect, all imperfections must be eliminated. "Brave New World, 1984, This Perfect day - move aside: In the Algorithm We Trust has entered the building." Fenella McAndrew, Goodreads"If you loved 1984 and Brave New World you will love this book as well."Nicole Carlon, Goodreads"It felt like 1984 had been turned into an episode of Black Mirror." Remi, Goodreads A cautionary tale Kirkus Reviews called frightening, timely, and sobering, In the Algorithm We Trust explores indoctrination and propaganda in the age of artificial intelligence. Following the Siege of Washington, D.C., the power of the Algorithm is made absolute. Now, every left ear bears a Data Gathering Device, granting the Algorithm access to every thought and desire. Cameras surveil Americans' every move. Dissenters are publicly tortured. The history of pre-Algorithmic Times is altered. Border Walls keep all foreigners out and Americans in. This is the America that Hugo Rodríguez is born into, where the Algorithm dictates his every moment in the pursuit of data. Data that the Algorithm uses to curate his perfect life. But to get this perfect life, he must first prove his loyalty to the Algorithm and Lamar T. Haddington, even if it means turning on those he loves. A chilling and provocative satire, In the Algorithm We Trust examines how one becomes complicit in the system and propagandized into believing oppression is actually freedom.
