The United States is in a continuing economic slump following the recession of 2008-2009. Author Cantoni provides his view of the causes of the recession and provides suggestions as to how the country can recover. The book is intended as a guide for voters, since elected officials and the folks they hire have the ability to set policies and laws that will accelerate the recovery process (they, of course, also have the ability to drive the economy into the ground). Mr. Cantoni provides his perspective based on his many years of business experience. He is a past president and CEO of four medical imaging companies, both public and private. He has invested his own money and has utilized venture capital as he co-founded three of these companies. In the book, the U.S. is treated as an impoverished society, leading the way to discussion of how to lift folks out of poverty. An extensive discussion of the role of the living wage is woven throughout the narrative.
