'Okay, let's get one thing straight before you even think about reading this book I am NOT a dog.

Look at me. I'm scrawny, and my coat is wiry. One of my ears is bigger than the other, and my fur is patchy all over. I itch everywhere always. I'm not strong or classy, fast or glossy, brave or clever, loud or tough. I'm not the same as the others. I can't do what they do. I am NOT a dog.'

This is the story of a mixed-up mutt who can't quite work out where he fits in between the Great Danes and the greyhounds, the Border collies and the bulldogs and don't even mention the marmalade cat !
