With a universal message of strength and love, author-illustrator Bridget George (Anishinaabe) celebrates Indigenous culture and centers children in their communities in this joyful read-aloud picture book.
Even the smallest spark in our hearts can grow into a flame when we celebrate who we are.
Warriors surround us in our communities every day: grandparents and aunties, friends and neighbors, parents and ancestors. These warriors are protectors of language, stories, and memories, and with their love and guidance, we can become warriors, too.
In this joyous picture book, soft colors and dreamlike settings add a touch of whimsy to meaningful art that feels like a warm hug on every page. With every read, author-illustrator Bridget George (Anishinaabe) kindles a flame of Indigenous brilliance, community, and pride that will never go out.
