Hyannis, the largest village in Barnstable, was a busy harbor in the 18th and 19th centuries, attracting businesses and people to support its maritime industries. Today, it is the urban center of the Cape where year-round residents find excellent health care, schools, and shopping centers as well as restaurants, museums, and sports and entertainment venues.
