Jacqueline Chio-Lauri is a writer and anthologist who has worn many different hats, including teacher, science scholar, and restauranteur. Her books include the picture book biography Mami King, a Junior Library Guild Selection, as well as the cookbooks The New Filipino Kitchen and We Cook Filipino. Jacqueline discovered Maria's story while researching The New Filipino Kitchen and found Maria so inspiring that she started drafting Hunger Fighter. Born and raised in the Philippines, Jacqueline lived in seven different countries before settling in Manchester, England.
