Raised amongst the criminals and fighters of Birmingham her path was set. Transported to New South Wales and sent out past the "limits of location" to Wiradyuri country. It was a place where settlers were forbidden to go, a place dominated by male convicts and a few military personnel. The book follows her from her convict years in the frontier and unearths her lost story. Her partners have been researched and their stories recorded. The remoteness of the locations ensured that they could avoid the recordkeepers, so DNA has been used to link Caroline to both her family in Birmingham and her children. With the confirmation of Caroline's mother, her siblings were unearthed. Their remarkable stories have been included as they take the reader through the evolving changes in convict transportation until its eventual cessation.
