Her Name Was Maria is a sweeping, centuries-long love story that blends romance, historical fantasy, action, and myth. It follows Gian Luke Davignon-a gifted pianist who secretly descends from the ancient Pletorian bloodline-and Maria Haffenburg, a vampire born into a powerful, oppressive family. Their story begins in Prague in 1727, when Gian Luke's music draws Maria into a moment of recognition so profound it alters both their destinies.
Their forbidden love ignites a conflict with Maria's grandfather, Vladimir Hans Haffenburg, patriarch of a ruthless vampire lineage. Fearing the consequences of Maria loving a mortal, Vladimir abducts her and imprisons her in a subterranean fortress. Gian Luke searches for her across Europe for decades, refusing to abandon hope. Maria, trapped in darkness, clings to the melody Gian Luke composed for her-seven notes that become her lifeline.
Across wars, revolutions, and changing centuries, Gian Luke reinvents himself under new identities, performing the melody in every city he visits, hoping Maria will someday hear it. Maria endures more than two hundred years of captivity, studying every lock, guard rotation, and weakness until she finally escapes. Her journey leads her across the ocean to Buenos Aires, where Gian Luke-now known as "Rupert, the French Guy"-plays in a tango hall.
Their reunion is explosive, emotional, and transcendent. Time collapses as they rediscover each other in a crowded room, and Gian Luke quietly weaves her melody into the tango "María." They marry, defy Vladimir's ancient laws, and confront him in Buenos Aires. Only then does Maria learn the truth Gian Luke hid for centuries: he is Pletorian, a warrior of mythic strength and longevity, capable of defeating even the Haffenburg vampires.
The novel concludes with reconciliation, healing, and the life they were owed-two extraordinary beings choosing ordinary happiness in Buenos Aires. Their love becomes a melody lived rather than written, proving that some stories do not survive time; they defeat it.
A love that refuses to die. A melody that survives centuries. Her Name Was Maria is a sweeping romantic epic spanning Prague's snow-covered salons, Europe's darkest prisons, and the tango halls of Buenos Aires. When a vampire princess and a Pletorian warrior-pianist fall in forbidden love, their bond defies time, bloodlines, and death itself. Two hundred years of searching, waiting, and escaping lead to a reunion powerful enough to bend destiny. A story for readers who believe true love can outlive centuries.
