Built in the turn of the twentieth century, the Hejaz Railway was initially mocked in Europe as a wildly improbable scheme. Still used partially in Syria and Israel, the railway was constructed at colossal cost and despite countless obstacles, it received great enthusiasm across the Muslim world.
