Heaven's Corner is a sweeping historical novel set against the turbulent backdrop of the Third Crusade, an era defined by powerful rulers, military campaigns, religious conviction, political rivalry, and the struggle for control of the Holy Land.
Drawing upon the major decisions and actions of the kings and emperors who shaped the Crusade, Lloyd H. Muller brings history into a more personal and human perspective. Rather than focusing solely on the ambitions of monarchs and commanders, the novel also turns its attention to the ordinary soldiers and seamen whose endurance, courage, sacrifice, and loyalty carried them through the hardships of war and an unforgiving journey into the Middle East.
Through the intersection of historical events and fictional storytelling, Heaven's Corner explores the realities behind one of the medieval world's most consequential conflicts. Political ambition, faith, duty, survival, and the human cost of warfare form the foundation of a narrative that seeks to reveal not only what happened during the Third Crusade, but what it may have felt like for the people who experienced it.
Muller's longstanding interest in Jerusalem and the Middle East, supported by years of experience and study during his career as a U.S. Air Force officer, provides the historical setting with an added sense of purpose and authenticity.
For readers fascinated by the Crusades, medieval warfare, Jerusalem, military history, historical adventure, and character-driven stories set within major historical events, Heaven's Corner offers a journey into an age when kingdoms, faiths, and individual lives collided on the road to the Holy Land.
