Healing Trauma in Elementary Classrooms: 10 Practical Steps for Teachers and Mental Health Support Staff

Autor Jayne M. Heller-Leh
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 29 ian 2027
Healing Trauma in Elementary Classrooms provides educators with concrete strategies and interventions grounded in decades of research findings to help their students recover from trauma and build resilience. Children who experience frightening, confusing, or threatening events often struggle with behavioral and academic problems, leaving practitioners in search of effective resources. This book offers a ten-step framework, the 98.6 Trauma Program, that helps teachers and school-based mental health specialists manage the consequences of trauma, promote healing, build resilience, and stabilize children’s emotional wellness while mitigating environmental circumstances that may cause re-traumatization through compassionate instruction and interactions. Grounded in reliable evidence and attentive to the behavioral and chemical changes that follow traumatic events, the 98.6 Trauma Program promotes healing by establishing safety, building community, self-confidence, hope and purpose for the future. Practitioners will be better prepared to manage trauma symptoms that manifest as behavior challenges, ease internalizing disorders such as fear, anxiety, and depression, and support academic success as children heal.
