The Hawker Chronicles is the history of an English family from 1590 to the present day. 'Hawker's Island' covers the years from 1701-1717. Titus Hawker runs away to sea with his Uncle Tyrone, only to find he has joined a band of pirates. Accidentally becoming their leader, he faces many dangers and enemies: the evil buccaneer Black Jack Hawker; his beautiful but vicious cousin Belle; the Duke of Toledo, Viceroy of New Cordoba; as well as the full force of the Spanish Inquisition.
