Handbook Automated Ultrasonic Testing Systems

Ultrasonic testing systems with automated and location-related data acquisition through mechanical control, have progressively gained importance in ultrasonic non-destructive testing. This document discusses those stationary and mobile test devices that are applied in factories (testing of slabs, plates, pipes) and those used in construction sites (welds). Furthermore, systems being used for periodical tests (power station areas, pipelines etc.) are touched on. Many automated testing systems are available on the market, and they are frequently complex and not easy to survey by the potential user. Therefore, the Technical committee "Ultrasound" of the German Society for Non-Destructive Testing (DGZfP) e.V. decided to establish a subcommittee "Automated Ultrasonic Testing Systems" which evaluated this subject and prepared this handbook as an aid for specification, selection and use of these devices.
