Greenhood

Autor Tricia D Walker
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 19 oct 2026
Greenhood is a nature memoir about discovering the delight in being dormant. It is the story of a tree-change, of living in a tiny home, and of focussing on living life, rather than earning a living.
Longing for a deeper connection with the natural world, and sensing she was nearing a threshold she wasn't yet equipped to cross, Tricia declared a midlife 'gap year': a year to reflect and recalibrate before moving on to the second half of her life.
Tricia tuned in to the natural world and learned to dwell in between, to linger between one life stage and the next. She realised these 'pauses' are just as important as all the 'doing'. Nature seeped into the space left behind by paid work. Anxiety and overwhelm disappeared with her salary.
Greenhood is a nature memoir about being truly present, even with heartbreak and discomfort. The darkest moments of our lives can be responsible for our most treasured realisations and evolution.
Mother Nature knows how to pace herself; she knows the time she lays dormant is as important as when she blooms.

Notă biografică

Tricia D. Walker is a writer, ecologist and nature connection facilitator. She has a PhD in ecology and evolution, and has worked in nature conservation for more than twenty years. While Tricia believes that science can help us save our precious planet and clean up the mess we've made, she doubts we have the heart to do what the science suggests. We've forgotten how deeply entwined we are with nature. These days Tricia shares her time between the science and spirit of nature conservation. She lives in the Hunter Valley on the east coast of Australia and is President of her local Landcare group, acting on her belief that we need to relocalise our conservation efforts.
